Arsenal have now launched scouting mission into League One duo

Arsenal just launched a scouting mission to assess Caylan Vickers and Tyler Bindon.

According to The Express, Arsenal were planning to send scouts to watch Reading take on Exeter City in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday evening, in order to pass judgement on Caylan Vickers and Tyler Bindon.

The Royals certainly put on a show for the Arsenal recruiters. Reading romped to a 9-0 victory over their League One rivals in the cup competition fixture. 18-year-old attacker Vickers was one of the seven names on the scoresheet, and also contributed an assist. Centre-back Bindon, though, did not feature in the match.

Mikel Arteta is apparently keen to scour the Football League pyramid for young talents with the potential to make the grade at the highest level. More scouts may well be dispatched from the Emirates Stadium in the near future on similar assignments to this one.

Arsenal eyeing up two potential gems

Vickers is certainly an exciting prospect. The teenager came through the academy system at Reading, and made his first team debut for the club from the bench in their opening League One match of the current campaign.

He has since established himself as a regular starter for the club, and bagged his first league goal against Bolton Wanderers last time out.

Bindon, meanwhile, joined the club this summer, arriving from the LAFC academy. The USA under-19 international has impressed at the back on several occasions and looks extremely composed on the ball.

Neither Bindon or Vickers are yet ready to play at Arsenal’s level. However, it is encouraging to see the north London club looking for transfer market opportunities at this level of the game. They have shown that they’re willing to spend big on top targets, such as Declan Rice and Kai Havertz, but they are wise not to overlook the potential diamonds in the rough that can be plucked out from the lower leagues in bargain deals.
