Arsenal were recently linked with a move for Nottingham Forest defender Murillo, and he has now handed them a potential transfer boost.

The defender has been outstanding at Nottingham Forest, and has been linked with a £50m move to a whole host of clubs including Arsenal.

As a former Corinthians defender, Murillo has attracted interest from Arsenal director Edu Gaspar, who is reportedly far more keen on signing him than Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal are set to complete a deal for Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori, and they are well-stocked at the back. However, if they want to add another option in the future, Murillo could be keen on a move.

Arsenal target Murillo reveals Champions League dream

Speaking in an interview with The Telegraph, Murillo revealed that he would love to play in the Champions League one day.

“Of course I want to eventually play in the Champions League. When I was growing up I’d play video games and play with all those teams,” he stated.

“Whenever I hear that classic music before the games it moves me, and it would be a dream to play in that competition.”

Arsenal and Chelsea are amongst the clubs interested, and it is the Gunners who can offer more Champions League opportunities than their London rivals.

Despite his long-term goal of playing in the Champions League, possibly at Arsenal, Murillo has also expressed his desire to stay at Forest and play regularly for one more year.

“I need regular game-time and really feel that with Forest I’m in the best place for my career,” he added.

“Staying here for another season will enable me to mature as a player and eventually become better prepared if the chance ever comes to play at another level one day.”

Arsenal were unlikely to pursue their interest now anyway, but if he continues to impress, he could be looked at as another option next summer.

If he is still interested in a move to a club where he may not play regularly, he could be an excellent squad option if other defenders leave, such as the injury-prone Oleksandr Zinchenko or Takehiro Tomiyasu.
