Andrea Berta has done a phenomenal job since becoming the Arsenal sporting director.
The Italian left his role at Atletico Madrid at the turn of the year and became available. He had a fair bit of interest, but Arsenal went all out for him.
After replacing Edu Gaspar at the Emirates, Berta signed eight new players in the summer and also completed several important contract extensions.
Now, the 53-year-old has set his sights on Arsenal’s next target – Lennart Karl.
Arsenal send scouts to watch Lennart Karl of Bayern Munich
Karl has burst onto the scene at Bayern Munich this season.
The 17-year-old is one of the biggest talents in Germany, and Vincent Kompany has been giving him opportunities in the senior side.
Karl has played 10 times for Bayern, all of which have come since the start of this campaign. He scored his first goal earlier in October, against Club Brugge in the Champions League.
Watching him closely in that game, according to Caughtoffside, were scouts from Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City.
The Gunners and the other two English sides are expected to continue monitoring the teenager, but a move in January is unlikely at this stage.
The report claims that approaches could arrive next summer, but Bayern are in a fairly strong position because his contract does not expire until 2028.
Furthermore, the player’s valuation, as things stand, is said to be in the €70-80 million (£61-70m) range, which is a lot for someone who is just 17.
Harry Kane has already delivered his verdict on Lennart Karl
Alongside Erling Haaland, Bayern Munich star Harry Kane is the best striker in the world today.
The 32-year-old Englishman isn’t just scoring goals and breaking records; he has also been a leader at the Allianz Arena.
Back in August this year, Kane delivered his verdict on young Karl after training and playing with him.
He said on Cleats Club: “Lenny has been great. He’s been training really well and looks really sharp. He obviously has loads of talent.
“He has to keep working hard and improve. He has a great chance to play at a high level. It’s been great to see him score that goal at the Allianz. I know that will give him even more confidence.
“We don’t want to put too much pressure on him. He needs to keep working hard, and let’s see how far he will go.”
