Arsenal may seek to add to their attacking contingent in the January transfer window.

With Bukayo Saka having recently undergone surgery, the Gunners are going to be without their key attacking player for some time.

Arsenal’s lack of firepower has been a problem at times this season already, and this issue will only become more pronounced in Saka’s absence.

Arsenal have been told to sign a striker, and bringing a forward to the Emirates Stadium needs to be Mikel Arteta’s top priority in the January transfer window.

Rumours have now emerged that Arteta is considering Chelsea attacker Christopher Nkunku as a potential recruit.

Arsenal and Chelsea fans discuss Christopher Nkunku transfer

This transfer gossip has sparked plenty of discussion amongst Arsenal and Chelsea fans on X, who have had their says on what a switch to the Emirates Stadium for Nkunku might mean for the respective clubs.

One Chelsea fan said: “This wouldn’t be good.”

Another supporter felt more supportive of the move, believing that the Blues could benefit financially: “Another £60m windfall loading.”

Meanwhile, another Chelsea fan stated: “Just seen football London reporting Nkunku to Arsenal. Absolutely not under any circumstances should this happen.”

An Arsenal fan claimed: “Nkunku to Arsenal makes sense bring that baller to north [London].”

Another was more pessimistic about the mooted move, adding: “No ways Arsenal are linked to Nkunku. Too many injuries and struggling to adjust to the Premier League demands. It’s a BIG No!!!”

One asked: “Heard there are links between Nkunku and arsenal. Could this be kai harvertz 2.0?”

What Nkunku would bring to Arsenal if Mikel Arteta risks Chelsea business

Nkunku is undeniably a talented player, but has struggled to establish himself at Stamford Bridge, and suffered with significant injury issues following his arrival in West London.

A fresh start would perhaps do the 27-year-old good, though there is certainly no guarantee that the Frenchman would shine for Arsenal. However, his capacity to lead the line, operate in midfield, and on the flanks would certainly appeal to Arteta.

On top of that, Arteta ought to perhaps be wary of dealing with Chelsea, as the Gunners have had mixed outcomes from their past transfer dealings with their capital city rivals.

Whilst Kai Havertz and Jorginho have largely done well at Arsenal – though Havertz certainly has his critics – the likes of Willian and David Luiz were more disappointing after making the move to North London.
