Arsenal are now reportedly interested in Juventus wonderkid Kenan Yildiz ahead of the January transfer window.

The 18-year-old has now made five appearances for the Juventus first team, having joined from Bayern Munich’s youth side last year.

A versatile forward, he is now a full-fledged Turkey international, and is regarded as one of the top attacking prospects in Europe.

A report from Turkish Football has now revealed that Arsenal and Liverpool are both keeping an eye on Yildiz.

Juventus do not want to lose their wonderkid, and have already turned down loan offers, and extended his contract until 2027.

Yildiz now has three caps for Turkey, and scored in their recent victory over Germany, in a game in which Kai Havertz started at left-back and also scored.

The teenager was eligible to play for Germany, having been born there, but elected to represent Turkey, and is now exploding onto the international scene.

Arsenal have been told to sign a striker to help boost their chances of Premier League success, but Yildiz, who is yet to score a senior goal at club level, does not fit this profile.

Should he join, first-team opportunities at Arsenal would be limited, given that Mikel Arteta has Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah, Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard at his disposal, and it is tough to see him being thrown straight into Premier League or Champions League in what will be a high-pressure second half of the season.

Given that he is already part of the Juventus first-team, it is unlikely that Yildiz would agree to a move if he was to drop back down to academy football at Arsenal, and he would not come cheaply.

Even though he is an outstanding young prospect, Arsenal have bigger priorities in the January transfer window.

Although Arsenal currently have the best defence in the Premier League, there is an alarming lack of depth at the back, with Takehiro Tomiyasu’s withdrawal against Wolves a particular concern for Arteta.

Edu Gaspar is also keen on adding a midfielder to the squad amidst Thomas Partey’s injury struggles, and Arsenal are looking at a potentially large outlay before even addressing whether they will pursue a move for a star striker such as Ivan Toney.

With this in mind, any move for Yildiz would likely come in the summer, and if Arsenal do end up adding another forward to the squad, this would further reduce Yildiz’s chances of first-team action, and it is therefore a deal unlikely to happen at this stage.
