Arsenal considering move for Matheus Mane

Arsenal are considering a move for Wolves attacking midfielder Matheus Mane, but are not alone, according to TalkSPORT.

Manchester United and Newcastle United are also monitoring the teenager’s situation at Molineux in case they are relegated.

Meanwhile, Wolves are expected to put up a strong fight to keep hold of the attacker, with Rob Edwards keen to build around him.

The England youth international’s current deal runs until 2029 in the Midlands, but Wolves are keen to reward him with fresh terms.

Mane has two goals and two assists in 18 Premier League appearances, helping Wolves to avoid defeats in seven of their last 11 games.

The attacker is valued at £50 million, according to Football Insider, which could put Arsenal off, with Ethan Nwaneri a better prospect than the 18-year-old.

Paul Merson backs Matheus Mane to become a ‘superstar’

Former Gunner Paul Merson is backing Mane to become a ‘superstar’ in the future, and is a big fan of his work rate.

Speaking about the attacker, Merson told Sky Sports: “He is something for the fans, they need something to get them up.

“He is enthusiastic, he has scored a couple of goals, and he looks like he could be a superstar. He works hard. I like his attitude.

“There is a lot of pressure on him for a young kid. It is like, if Mane plays, we’ve got a chance, when really he should be coming in for a couple of games and then coming back out, because there is a lot of pressure on him playing for, and without being unkind, a poor football team.”
