Ivan Toney is keen to leave Brentford in the January transfer window.

According to The Mirror, striker Ivan Toney wants to leave Brentford in January, with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur all keen on securing his services.

The Bees are willing to let Toney go in the winter window, but only if their £60 million valuation of the 27-year-old forward is met.

Toney is currently still serving a ban for breaches of betting regulations which will see him sidelined until January. Arsenal may well be plotting to swoop for his signature as soon as he is clear to return to action.

Whilst Toney’s age puts him sightly above the average of what Mikel Arteta tends to sign, the Gunners must seriously consider meeting Brentford’s price tag for the once-capped England man.

Toney offers Arsenal something new

In Gabriel Jesus the north London club already have an excellent striker. However, his injury record means he cannot always be relied upon to be available. Eddie Nketiah has often impressed in the Brazilian’s absence, but there are doubts that the Hale End academy graduate has the quality to fire Arsenal to a Premier League title.

Equally, Kai Havertz can lead the line, but he is not a prolific finisher and Arteta seems to prefer the German in a midfield role.

Arteta is aiming to guide Arsenal to the title this season. Toney could have a transformative impact at the Emirates Stadium in the second half of this campaign, and could take the club a big step closer towards being able to win the league.

In the current transfer climate, £60 million would be something of a bargain price for Toney. He still has plenty of good years ahead of him, has lots of Premier League experience under his belt, and demonstrated with his twenty goal return last season that he has the quality to shine at the highest level.

What’s more, the £21,000-a-week attacker has the technical ability to slot comfortably into Arteta’s side, but also offers the kind of physicality that would allow the Gunners to tweak the style of their approach play if and when required.
