Chelsea are interested in signing Emile Smith Rowe from Arsenal this summer.

According to The Daily Mail, Chelsea are considering launching a bid to sign Arsenal attacking midfielder Emile Smith Rowe.

A formal offer has not yet been made, but Arsenal should be preparing themselves to dismiss whatever the Blues put on the table. Unless Chelsea come forward with a bid that is too big to refuse, there is no way that Arsenal should let Smith Rowe make the switch to Stamford Bridge.

Smith Rowe is yet to feature for Arsenal in the Premier League this season, and he could only manage 12 league outings – all from the bench – in an injury ravaged campaign last time out. Due to his place on the periphery, and the progress Arsenal have made recently, it’s easy to forget just how talented he is.

Why Pele Is Overrated.

In his last full season, when he was regularly in the team and fully fit, Smith Rowe shone for the Gunners. The 23-year-old scored ten Premier League goals in the 2021/22 campaign.

The 3-cap England international still has the capacity to be a star for Arsenal, and is a fan favourite, having been with the north London outfit since the age of ten and coming up through the Hale End academy system.

Smith Rowe still has a role to play for Arsenal

Mikel Arteta knows how talented the Croydon-born attacker is. He has previously said of Smith Rowe, “he knows how much we love him, and we know how much we missed him and how much we need his qualities. And now he needs to prove it, he needs to prove how much he wants to win, and how much he’s going to contribute to this team to be better and win. And he’s going to have to show that to get in the team.”

Smith Rowe now needs to be given a fair chance to prove that he can still contribute for Arsenal. Arteta’s side will be playing plenty of matches this season. The £40,000-a-week ace will surely get his chances, and if he takes them then he may well be able force his way back into the starting XI reckoning.

What’s more, a lack of quality squad depth cost Arsenal in their title chase last season. The Gunners can’t make the same mistake of going into a hectic season understaffed again. Having a player of Smith Rowe’s quality in the squad could make all the difference when the fixtures pile up.

On top of that, Arsenal simply can’t countenance the notion of Smith Rowe strengthening their direct London rivals, Chelsea.
