Arsenal are set to be very busy in the summer transfer window.
The Gunners need a new winger, a midfielder and a right-back, and they have been linked with several players already.
Furthermore, Andrea Berta has been busy working on outgoings as well, and there could be one surprise sale.
Piero Hincapie has been linked with a move to Real Madrid by ESPN, and if that goes through, it will be a very rare occurrence as far as Arsenal are concerned.
👀 Who is the FIRST Arsenal player Andrea Berta must sell this summer?
Arsenal could repeat 46-year transfer move as Real Madrid eye Piero Hincapie
Arsenal signed Hincapie on a season-long loan deal from Bayer Leverkusen last summer.
The terms of the agreement gave the Gunners an option to make that move permanent, and the feeling behind the scenes has always been that they will trigger that option.
Arsenal are expected to complete Hincapie’s signing permanently soon, but Real Madrid want him too, to bolster Jose Mourinho’s backline.
If both of the above deals go through, history books will be rewritten.
In Arsenal’s entire history, they have signed a player and then sold him in the same window on only one occasion before.
That was in 1980, when Clive Allen was signed from QPR and just months later, he was included in a swap deal for Kenny Sansom.
If Arsenal sell Hincapie this summer right after signing him permanently, it would be just the second time it has happened in the club’s history and first time in 46 years.

Should Arsenal sell Piero Hincapie?
Hincapie had a slow start to life at Arsenal, but he quickly became one of Mikel Arteta’s best players.
The Ecuador international was outstanding in the second half of the campaign and was even preferred ahead of Riccardo Calafiori at times.
Real Madrid’s interest in Hincapie is understandable because of age, profile and versatility, but Arsenal shouldn’t even consider selling him.
Arteta has two excellent options in Hincapie and Calafiori, who can both play as centre-backs as well as at left-back.
Arsenal should do everything they can to keep both players.
