A number of strikers are being linked with a move to Arsenal ahead of the January transfer window.

The Gunners have had a tough start to the season. They are nine points behind Liverpool after 12 Premier League games and have a lot of work to do.

Many people feel Arsenal’s biggest problem is in attack, especially up front. They don’t have a prolific striker who will guarantee 25 or more goals a season.

That is perhaps a reason why the rumour mill is throwing out many names, and a surprise one has now come out ahead of the winter window.

Arsenal eye move for Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap

Liam Delap is having a phenomenal season at Ipswich Town.

The 21-year-old Englishman has scored six goals in 12 appearances for the newly promoted Premier League side, and he has caught the eye of many clubs.

Delap joined Ipswich from Manchester City in the summer of 2024 in a £20 million deal. Pep Guardiola’s side retain a buy-back clause that could be used to get him back (MEN).

Irrespective of what happens on that front, Delap is attracting interest from several teams in the Premier League after his impressive start to the season.

CaughtOffside claim that Arsenal are one of the clubs interested in the England U21 international. Alexander Isak is their priority, but the Ipswich star is on their list as well.

It has been claimed that the Tractor Boys are prepared to let Delap leave for around €40-50 million (£33.2-41.5m) in 2025.

Arsenal, however, face competition from clubs like Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Ajax and PSV Eindhoven.

Pep Guardiola’s assessment of Liam Delap will excite Arsenal fans

Arsenal fans have been crying out for a striker for a long time, but Delap wouldn’t have been on anyone’s wish list. That’s why the Gunners’ reported interest is a bit of a shock.

However, the Englishman’s performances this season have been great to watch, and he clearly has the potential to be a big player in the coming years.

Delap has earned praise from a number of people this season, but Guardiola noticed and hailed his talent all the way back in February 2022, when he was still a teenager at Manchester City.

He said, as per City’s official website: “He is the type of striker we don’t have. He is a killer, a typical British striker, an incredible finisher.”

Perhaps that is one of the reasons why Delap has caught Arsenal’s eye.
