Arsenal are weighing up a move for Juventus winger Federico Chiesa.

According to Italian publication Calciomercato, Arsenal are interested in signing Federico Chiesa. The attacker is also said to be keen on making a move to the Premier League.

Chiesa joined Juventus on an initial two-season loan deal in 2020, with an obligation to buy in 2022 for €40 million – equivalent to around £35 million. The Serie A giants will be expecting to make a decent profit on the 26-year-old should me make a move to the Emirates Stadium, or elsewhere.

Chiesa has started the new season in fine form. He has already racked up four goals and one assist in ten league outings so far.

It would be fascinating to see the 42-cap Italy international test himself in the Premier League. He certainly has the capacity to be an excellent addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Is Federico Chiesa the player Arsenal need?

However, it has to be questioned if Chiesa ought to be a priority target for the north London club. There is no doubting his quality, he has even previously been dubbed a “world class” talent, but given he is right-footed, he is not a like-for-like option to rotate with Bukayo Saka

If Chiesa wouldn’t be able to naturally replicate Saka’s tactical function in the side, he might not be an appropriate signing for the Gunners to make at this time. Arsenal are well stocked for options on the left, with Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, and Emile Smith Rowe all able to play there. However, they lack an elite level player who can support and compete with Saka.

Another mooted Arsenal target, Pedro Neto, has been described as potentially being the perfect foil for Saka. A player in the mould of the Portuguese ace would likely be a better fit for Arsenal.
