Arsenal’s transfer plans for 2026 have already begun.

The Gunners had an unprecedented summer transfer window earlier this year. Andrea Berta spent in excess of £200 million on eight new signings, and all of them have done well so far.

Arsenal’s focus is on the pitch now as they aim to win the Premier League and the Champions League, but Berta is already looking ahead.

After agreeing deals to sign Edwin and Holger Quintero when they turn 18, the Italian has set his sights on a Bundesliga star – Jean-Matteo Bahoya.

Arsenal have informed Eintracht Frankfurt that they are interested in Jean-Matteo Bahoya

Arsenal have a phenomenal squad at the moment.

The Gunners have two top-class players in almost every area of the pitch, and most positions don’t need reinforcements anytime soon. However, if you had to point out one weakness in the Arsenal first team, it would be their left-wing position.

Leandro Trossard has had a fantastic start to the season, but he is on the wrong side of 30. Gabriel Martinelli has also done well recently, but he seems to be the Gunners’ most sellable asset.

That could be why Arsenal are looking for additions in that role, and Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg has revealed that the Premier League leaders are interested in Bahoya.

The 20-year-old Eintracht Frankfurt star is naturally a left-winger, but he can play across the frontline and also in an attacking midfield role. He has even been compared to Jadon Sancho when he was in his prime at Borussia Dortmund (Bundesliga.com).

Plettenberg revealed on X: “Arsenal are keeping a close eye on Jean-Matteo Bahoya. Their interest for the summer is concrete, and Eintracht Frankfurt have been informed.

“Markus Krosche is demanding up to €70 million (£61.1m) for the 20 y/o left winger. His contract runs until 2029.”

Who is Jean-Matteo Bahoya and what’s his style of play?

Bahoya is a France U21 international who came through the Angers academy.

The Frenchman joined Eintracht Frankfurt in 2024, when he was 18. He has since played 59 games for them, 34 of which have come off the bench, and has directly contributed to 11 goals.

As for his traits, Bahoya is rapid, has an eye for goal, and his work rate is excellent. He is capable of both cutting inside and taking on his man on the outside when he plays out wide, which makes him a big threat.

Bahoya is viewed as a huge talent by Eintracht, and having seen how they have negotiated the sales of players like Randal Kolo Muani, Hugo Ekitike and Omar Marmoush in recent years, we’re sure they will not let him leave for a small fee.

It remains to be seen now if Arsenal will pay the big bucks for Bahoya in 2026.
