Riccardo Calafiori has been linked with a move back to Italy as four Serie A clubs have their eye on the Arsenal defender, but the Gunners have said no to any potential move.

Calafiori started the season exceptionally well, but has dropped out of the starting XI in recent months to accommodate the incredible form of Piero Hincapie.

Amid juggling various fitness issues with competition, some transfer rumours have been flying about the Italian due to his dip in game time.

Last week, it was reported that Chelsea have been looking at Calafiori, and they’re not the only ones, as several clubs in his homeland are tracking the defender.

There’s bad news for every interested party, as Arsenal’s response has been loud and clear.

Arsenal have no intention of selling Riccardo Calafiori

A report courtesy of TEAMtalk has revealed Arsenal’s stance on Calafiori’s transfer status ahead of the summer window.

It’s understood that the Gunners ‘have no plans’ of letting Calafiori leave, and are ‘fully committed to keeping him’ at the Emirates.

The Italian clubs interested in the left-back are Inter Milan, AC Milan, Juventus and Napoli, with all four clubs watching from a distance to figure out if an opportunity to sign the 23-year-old could arise.

Based on TEAMtalk’s understanding, they’ll be waiting a long while for such an opportunity to present itself, as Arsenal have no intention of selling Calafiori.

Calafiori transfer decision is a no-brainer

Discussing the idea of selling the Italian international is amusing, particularly after Calafiori’s performance against Everton.

The 2024 signing proved what a difference he can make to the Arsenal squad when called upon at left-back, being Arteta’s best attacking full-back at present.

From his staggeringly high football IQ to his versatility, there is absolutely no reason for Arsenal to sell the defender anytime soon, unless, of course, he was unhappy at the club.

That doesn’t seem to be the case, as Calafiori relishes working with Arteta, whom he admits has made him a better player.

Contracted until 2029, Andrea Berta has no intention of watching Calafiori walk out the door anytime soon, which is completely unsurprising.
