Transfer Deadline Day is almost upon us but Arsenal are yet to sign a striker.
The Gunners have done some good work in this window. David Raya’s loan was turned into a permanent deal early in July and that was followed by the signings of Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino.
Arsenal are definitely stronger now than they were in the 2023/24 season, but many people still feel they need a new striker to win the Premier League title.
On GiveMeSport, Ben Jacobs has now named the three forwards Arsenal have been looking at ahead of Deadline Day.
Arsenal’s three-man striker shortlist ahead of Deadline Day
Arsenal have been linked with about a dozen strikers over the last few months.
Not everyone is good enough to play in Mikel Arteta’s system, and that has narrowed the choices down to just a few names.
Ahead of Deadline Day on Friday, Jacobs has revealed the three names Arsenal are looking at:
- Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez
- Brighton and Hove Albion’s Evan Ferguson
- Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres
All three of them are exciting options for the Gunners, especially Gyokeres, who directly contributed to over 50 goals in the 2023/24 season.
However, a deal to sign the Swede, or Ferguson, looks extremely difficult this late in the window because of their huge price tags.
Jacobs said: “They’ve looked at Santiago Gimenez, who we know that Nottingham Forest are struggling to get over the line but, at the time of recording, are still working on.
“Evan Ferguson has been considered, but the price is very high, and he didn’t have the most consistent goalscoring season last campaign. And then Viktor Gyokeres is constantly linked.
“But again, the overall cost of that is deemed to be too high. And, at this stage, it would be very un-Arsenal like to drop €80 million to €100 million in the final days or hours of the market.”

Arsenal should drop striker pursuit and focus on another position
A new striker would be great, we’re not denying that, but it looks unlikely at this stage.
Bringing in someone just for the sake of it makes no sense at all, especially as Arsenal could potentially have the chance of signing Alexander Isak in 2025.
So, Arteta and Edu should just drop their pursuit of a new striker in this window and focus on signing a backup winger, someone who can provide cover for Bukayo Saka.
If Arsenal can do that, we should all be very pleased with their efforts in this summer’s transfer window.
