Arsenal have always been a superior club to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Gunners have historically been the more successful side, and even in the few years where Spurs finished higher, it was still the red half of North London that remained a bigger global brand.
Players like William Saliba and Dani Ceballos chose Arsenal over Tottenham then, while Eberechi Eze did the same last summer.
Another Spurs move was reportedly hijacked by Arsenal a few years ago – Leandro Trossard.
Fill in the blank: Leandro Trossard is now worth £__m to Arsenal…
Arsenal beat Tottenham to the signing of Leandro Trossard
Arsenal signed Trossard from Brighton and Hove Albion in January 2023.
The Belgian had established himself as a good player in the Premier League there, but he fell out with then-Seagulls boss Roberto De Zerbi.
It became very clear that Trossard had to leave the Amex then, but Arsenal were busy chasing Mykhaylo Mudryk in that window.
Tottenham made a move for Trossard, but Daniel Levy, as he did many times, was reluctant to meet Brighton’s asking price and failed to wrap the deal up.

Arsenal’s pursuit of Mudryk came to an end when Chelsea hijacked their move. So, Edu Gaspar immediately turned his attention to Trossard and sealed the deal later that very day.
A source who was aware of Trossard’s situation at the time told the Daily Mail: “Spurs put in an offer, but Daniel Levy didn’t want to pay £20 million plus add-ons.
“Levy was after £15 million plus add-ons. But Brighton wouldn’t accept that.
“Trossard was on Arsenal’s secondary list. They offered what Brighton wanted late in the day because they had (missed) their priority targets.
“It was a player they thought, at worse, would be a squad player, but look how he’s turned out.”
Is there anything at all about Tottenham that’s better than Arsenal?
Wayne Rooney thinks Spurs have a better training ground
Like Eberechi Eze, Leandro Trossard has embarrassed Tottenham already
Tottenham have been embarrassed by Arsenal time and again over the years.
After Eze chose the Gunners over Spurs in the summer, the England international scored a hat-trick in his first-ever North London Derby.
Trossard, who could’ve easily been a Tottenham player if Levy had paid what was needed, has been a fine signing for Arsenal.
The Belgium international has produced several big moments over the years, including two important goals against Spurs in the last two derbies.
Levy is no longer at Tottenham, but he must be looking back at Trossard and Eze with some regret.
