Arsenal have landed a big boost amid their interest in the transfer of Alexander Isak, with the Gunners scouting the Newcastle United striker as a possible summer target.
The Emirates Stadium natives are likely to be in the market for attacking reinforcements this summer. Boss Mikel Arteta had studied strengthening the position this January. But Arsenal could not invest the fees required for a leading No9 without potentially breaching FFP rules.
Arteta believes Arsenal need to target a new centre-forward after Gabriel Jesus endured yet another injury-hit campaign. Eddie Nketiah has also fallen down the Gunners’ pecking order this season, with Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard even favoured to act as a striker at times.

Arsenal are scouting Alexander Isak as a transfer target
Jesus has only played in 19 of Arsenal’s 28 Premier League matches so far this season after two aggravations of the knee injury he initially suffered at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, plus a hamstring injury. The 26-year-old has also started just 13 fixtures, while scoring four goals.

Nketiah, meanwhile, may have five goals through his 24 top-flight appearances so far. But he has only started 10 times and has not scored since firing a hat-trick against Sheffield United in October. So, Arsenal are open to signing a new striker and admire Newcastle forward Isak.
That is according to HITC Football, which reports that Isak is one of the strikers Arsenal have scouted in 2024. The Gunners are keen to track the 24-year-old’s situation at St James’ Park after scoring 12 goals in 20 top-flight games this term. He has missed seven through injuries.
Arsenal have also landed a big boost amid their interest in Isak as HITC Football adds that he is ‘frustrated’ by Newcastle’s season. The threat of the Toon failing to qualify for Europe next season might also become an issue for the Sweden star, with the Magpies currently in 10th.

Newcastle are 16 points outside of the Champions League places and 13 from a guaranteed spot in the Europa League. The Magpies are also seven points behind Manchester United in sixth place, which would currently return a spot in next season’s Europa Conference League.

So, Eddie Howe failing to overturn the Toon’s deficits and return to Europe, having played in the Champions League this term, may delight Arteta. But the Express reports that Newcastle will slap an £80m price tag on Isak – who admits ‘things can happen’ in the transfer window.
