Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing Borussia Dortmund attacker Jamie Bynoe-Gittens.

According to German publication BILD, Arsenal are currently leading the pack in the race to sign Jamie Bynoe-Gittens. However, the 19-year-old has recently signed a new contract with the Bundesliga outfit, so won’t come to the Emirates Stadium cheaply.

On top of that, the Gunners aren’t the only club interested in securing the talented teenager’s services. Newcastle United and Chelsea are both also credited as being keen on the player.

It is unsurprising that there is increasing clamour for the signature of Bynoe-Gittens. The youngster has been impressive for Dortmund when given the chance to shine. He broke into the team properly last season, making 20 appearances across all competitions, and chipping in with three goals and one assist. He would have had chance to make a greater contribution too had a couple of injuries not halted his progress.

Bynoe-Gittens is now once again fit and back in action. Dortmund will be delighted to have secured a new deal for the winger, but they may still find that their resolve to keep him is tested in upcoming transfer windows.

Bynoe-Gittens brilliant but not what Arsenal need

Teammate Karim Adeyemi certainly expects big things from the youngster, saying, “for me, he is one of the best players one-against-one I have ever seen, to be honest. He will be a really good player.”

The under-21 England international certainly has huge potential, and is gaining great experience in Germany. Having previously been part of the Chelsea and Manchester City academy systems he may well also feel that he has unfinished business in the Premier League.

He would be an exciting addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad. However, the question remains as to whether he is someone that Arsenal really need. Bynoe-Gittens is a right-footed winger who prefers to operate on the left flank so that he can cut inside. The Gunners are well stocked for options in this role, with Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, Emile Smith Rowe, and Reiss Nelson all on the books.

Arsenal would be better off looking for a left-footer who can thrive on the opposite flank to offer genuine back up to Bukayo Saka.
