Arsenal are planning to back Viktor Gyokeres next season, having made a big investment in him, despite Andrea Berta looking to sign another striker.

Gyokeres has been a shocking signing for Arsenal, truth be told, despite the Swede having produced 15 goals in total so far.

Arsenal fans have called for Gyokeres to be dropped for Kai Havertz following his latest display in the Gunners’ 1-0 win over Brighton.

But despite the fans’ opinions, the North London club are ready to keep backing the 27-year-old and give him more competition next season.

Andrea Berta wants Arsenal to sign another striker

Andrea Berta wants Arsenal to sign another striker, and Inter Milan’s Pio Esposito is a player they are assessing, according to Fabrizio Romano.

A striker, right-back and midfielders are on the agenda at the Emirates Stadium this summer, as the club continue to back Mikel Arteta.

When discussing Arsenal’s plans for the summer transfer window, Romano revealed: “Look, I think Arsenal will do something up front.

“I expect Arsenal to do something up front in terms of adding maybe one more player in the summer transfer window.

“So Arsenal are looking at right backs, Arsenal are looking at midfielders, but Arsenal are also looking at players up front. So this is the first point.”

Esposito is a strong Arsenal target for the summer window, with the Italian producing seven goals and six assists this season.

“Esposito, he’s doing fantastic for Inter president yesterday was very clear the player is not for sale. He also said Arsenal didn’t ask us about the player, which is the reality,” added Romano.

“Arsenal do normal scouting activity, as Esposito is one of the most talented strikers around. Andrea Berta is Italian and follows Serie A very well, so it’s pretty obvious to follow a player like Esposito, but that’s it.

“Arsenal never made a proposal. Arsenal never approached anyone; they are just following several players, and I think eventually, in terms of skills, when Arsenal decide to add the players up front, I think it’s going to be with a different kind of skills.”

Arsenal are ready to back Viktor Gyokeres

Arsenal are ready to offer support to Viktor Gyokeres, having paid £63 million to sign him from Sporting CP next summer.

Right now, there are no plans to replace him in the event that the Gunners do eventually bring another striker to the Emirates Stadium.

“They invested big money in Viktor Gyokeres already last summer, and they keep supporting the player. So I think Arsenal are looking for something different up front. Then it’s still very early,” said Romano.

“It’s the beginning of March. There’s plenty of time to see who’s going to be the main targets for  Arsenal. But I expect them to be busy also up front.”
