Arsenal are reportedly advancing to sign Athletic Club youngster Nico Williams, who is believed to be as quick as PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe.

The two attackers have both been linked with moves to Arsenal in recent weeks, with the French international easily the more exciting of the two players given Mbappe’s world-class qualities.

However, as we know, Arsenal would have to make the 25-year-old forward the highest-paid player in Premier League history if they were to make an honest attempt to sign Mbappe, which is why the likes of Williams are now being targeted.

According to El Chiringuito TV, Arsenal have in recent days advanced their interest in signing Williams, who as reported by Marco recorded a faster speed than Mbappe at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Given how young Williams is at 21-years-old and how cheap the £50m-rated attacker will be compared to Mbappe, it makes sense why Arsenal would be considering making a further move for the youngster.

Indeed, Williams has played an integral role this season for an Athletic side who have realistic dreams of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League for the first time since 2014.

And for Arsenal, it makes sense why they are now increasing their interest in Williams, with the versatile forward a player who could thrive in north London.

To say Arsenal’s recent links to Mbappe are crazy would be an understatement, with the French international clearly going to join Real Madrid despite reports that have come out in recent days.

For fans, the smallest chance of potentially signing Mbappe has been enough to send social media into overdrive, with some supporters somehow convinced the PSG forward will just give up his Los Blancos dream to head to Arsenal.

Which is why the north London side themselves are being smart in looking at other targets, with Mbappe as unrealistic as they come in the current market as Williams presents a unique opportunity for the Gunners.
