The January transfer window is not too far away, and Arsenal are being linked with several players.
The Gunners made some good moves in the summer. They signed David Raya, Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino on permanent deals, while Neto and Raheem Sterling were brought in on loan.
However, Arsenal have had a difficult start to the season, and they are already nine points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool.
Fans are hoping for some help in the January window, and a surprise name has now been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal in talks to sign Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace
Arsenal have a couple of positions where they could do with new players in the January transfer window.
The Gunners have a side that is capable of beating any team on their day, but there’s always room for improvement. In Arsenal’s case, squad depth is a bit of an issue.
Against Sporting CP, a major Arsenal flaw was spotted when Mikel Arteta had four left-back options on the bench and zero right-backs there.
Arteta got away with it in Lisbon, but a new right-back in January could help – someone whose fitness is a lot more reliable than that of Takehiro Tomiyasu.
To add to that, a new striker could make a big difference as well. Arsenal have needed a prolific number nine since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left the club.
However, a surprise report has emerged from CaughtOffside, who claim that ‘Arsenal have held some talks over the potential transfer of Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton’.
The 20-year-old is one of the brightest young players in the country, and it is only a matter of time before he leaves Selhurst Park for a bigger club.
The report claims that Arsenal are hoping to sign Wharton in January for a fee in the region of €55 million (£45.8m), but Palace are looking for €65 million (£54.1m) for their star talent.
Arsenal face competition for Wharton’s signature. Both Manchester City and Liverpool are said to be interested in him as well.

Arsenal could get a big discount for Wharton if they wait six months
Crystal Palace have had a shocking start to the new season.
A lot was expected of the Eagles under Oliver Glasner, but they are currently 19th in the Premier League table after winning just one of their first 12 games.
Palace’s squad is too good to be relegated, but stranger things have happened in the past. If the South Londoners do go down, a number of their players will be available for bargain prices.
Wharton will be one of those, so we think Arsenal should hold out until the summer instead of spending big money on the 20-year-old in January.
The Gunners are well stacked in midfield – a new striker and right-back must be the priority in the winter window.
