Arsenal now lead race to sign teen ‘wonderkid’ who watched win over Brighton

Arsenal are currently leading the charge to secure the signature of Tristan Panduro.

Tristan Panduro has attracted plenty of attention, but Arsenal are thought to be on the verge of sealing a deal for his services.

Arsenal’s Hale End academy setup, under the control of former centre-back Per Mertesacker, has produced some incredibly exciting talents in recent years. The likes of Bukayo Saka, Eddie Nketiah, Emile Smith Rowe, and Reiss Nelson are all now part of Mikel Arteta’s first team squad having come through academy. Three of them have even been capped at senior international level by England. 

There is now huge excitement over the likes of Ethan Nwaneri, Myles Lewis-Skelly, and Reuell Walters, amongst others. Arteta has already handed Nwaneri his senior debut. In September 2022, the teenager became the youngster player in Arsenal and Premier League history with his late cameo off the bench against Brentford. The Spanish coach even recently likened him to Jack Wilshere.

Now, the Gunners are closing in on another top young talent. According to Football Transfers, Arsenal are currently “ahead of several European giants” in the race to sign Danish “wonderkid” Panduro. The 15-year-old was in attendance at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday as the north London club beat Brighton and Hove Albion, and is on trial with Arsenal at this time. 

Signing the talented teenager would be something of a coup for the club, as Panduro has also attracted interest from the likes of Manchester City, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, and RB Leipzig.

Despite the lure of these European powerhouses, Panduro now looks set to join fellow Dane, Chido Obi-Martin, in the Arsenal academy system.

Who is Tristan Panduro?

Currently part of the FC Copenhagen youth system, the young midfielder stands out for the maturity of his play and technical ability. He can read the game well and is an impressive passer of the ball.

He has represented Denmark at under-16 level, but is also eligible to play for England through his mother.

If he were to sign for Arsenal and find his way into the Gunners’ under-18s squad then he would be working under Wilshere. The coach would be a brilliant tutor for Panduro, who could learn a lot from the 31-year-old’s own style of play. Wilshere himself even spent time in Denmark towards the end of his playing career, which may help him to forge a connection with Panduro.
