Arsenal were linked with several strikers in the summer transfer window, but did not sign any. That could change next year.

Kai Havertz is now proving to be a top-class centre-forward, but Arsenal’s other options across the front line are beginning to show their limitations, and a signing in that area could be crucial next summer.

Arsenal were linked with several forwards including Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko, with neither player leaving their clubs last summer. Another target was Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, but a deal appeared to be impossible.

However, a move for Isak could be on the cards next summer, with the attacker’s stance over his future now becoming clearer.

Arsenal handed boost as Alexander Isak transfer stance emerges

Mail Sport have now revealed that despite initial discussions taking place over a new contract for Isak at Newcastle, all talks have now ended.

Isak is reportedly unwilling to put pen to paper over a new deal right now, with three years remaining on his current contract.

It is claimed that if Newcastle fail to qualify for the Champions League next season, Isak will push for a move, and this has put Arsenal on “red alert” given their previous interest in him.

Isak’s price tag was mooted at around £100m last summer, and a deal for him is expected to exceed that, but it now appears that there is a strong chance he could be on the move, and with Arsenal likely to be in the Champions League again, the Emirates Stadium could be the perfect destination for him.

Alexander Isak could be perfect for Arsenal

Despite possessing a lot of attacking quality, Arsenal have sometimes lacked speed and clinical finishing from their front line in recent years.

Isak would change that, as he would arrive as one of the best strikers in the Premier League, with 21 goals to his name last season.

The 25-year-old would join in time for his prime years to be played in North London, and Isak is already very familiar with Martin Odegaard and Mikel Merino, having played with them at Real Sociedad.

If Isak does push for a move next summer, Arteta simply must sign him, even at a high price, as a truly game-changing signing for Arsenal’s attack.
