Edu Gaspar may have left Arsenal, but the Gunners haven’t stopped working on transfers for the January window.

The North Londoners had a decent summer. They signed Riccardo Calafiori, Mikel Merino and David Raya on permanent deals, while Raheem Sterling and Neto joined on loans.

That seemed like a good enough window for Arsenal, but after the first 10 games of the season, it’s clear that they will need reinforcements in January.

One talented young midfielder is said to be on Arsenal’s radar now.

Arsenal plotting a bid for Hugo Larsson in January

Arsenal could do with quality reinforcements in multiple areas of their pitch.

A new striker has to be on the agenda, while a top-class winger who can play on either flank and be productive is a necessity as well.

Arsenal could also do with a backup number 10 – we all saw how much they struggled in Martin Odegaard’s absence over the last two months.

However, the first name out of the rumour mill now is a midfielder who is more of a number six or eight – Hugo Larsson of Eintracht Frankfurt.

CaughtOffside reveal that Arsenal have a strong interest in the 20-year-old Sweden international, who has been making a terrific name for himself in the Bundesliga.

The report claims that ‘Arsenal are considering testing the waters with a €40 million (£33m) bid’ to sign Larsson, but that is likely to end in disappointment.

That’s because Frankfurt are looking for a fee closer to €70-80 million (£58-66m) for their talented midfielder.

Who is Arsenal target Hugo Larsson?

Larsson is a 20-year-old midfielder who plays for Eintracht Frankfurt and the Sweden national football team, for whom he has earned six international caps.

Having joined Frankfurt from Malmo in 2023, he has played 52 times in all competitions for the Bundesliga club and has become one of their key players.

Larsson, who stands 6 feet 1 inch tall, is a complete midfielder. He can play at the base of midfield or in a more advanced box-to-box role and can do a great job in both.

The youngster has been compared to Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne for his close control and skillfulness, while his ability to break play up is reminiscent of Rodri (Bundesliga.com).

Larsson has a huge future ahead of him, and it’s only a matter of time before he leaves Frankfurt for a bigger club in Europe.
