Arsenal now told asking price for ‘incredible’ target who’s faster than Gabriel Martinelli

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Wolves star Pedro Neto in the summer, but whilst the winger looks certain to leave, he will not come cheaply.

The 23-year-old has been in sensational form for Wolves this season, with three goals and 10 assists from the wings in 18 appearances across the Premier League and FA Cup.

Arsenal have long been a fan of the player, but a long-term injury prevented a move earlier on, and Mikel Arteta is clearly very keen on the Portugal International.

A winger who can cover for Bukayo Saka would be a very welcome addition to the squad, as more rotation for the England International could keep him fresh, and Neto’s ability to play on both sides makes him an excellent option. However, Arsenal face a problem in his potential signing.

Arsenal learn of Wolves asking price for Pedro Neto

A report from Football Transfers has now revealed that Wolves will ask for around €93million amid interest from several Premier League sides including Arsenal.

This converts to just under £80m, which would be a steep fee, and despite his quality, it is arguable that he would not be a starter ahead of Saka or Gabriel Martinelli.

Arsenal have also been linked with Nico Williams of Athletic Bilbao, and given his £43m release clause, he would come at around half the price.

Neto’s injury problems are enough of a red flag that Arsenal should not pay over the odds for the winger, even if he is a good fit for Arteta’s side.

Arsenal need to add more pace to their squad, and Neto would be perfect in this sense, given that he has officially clocked the second-highest top speed of any player in the Premier League this season, ahead of Martinelli.

His creative ability from both flanks would make Neto a huge asset to the squad, but Arsenal now need to avoid signing injury-prone players given the problems they have faced with the likes of Thomas Partey and Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Neto unfortunately has missed significant numbers of games in the last few seasons.

He could have still been worth a gamble at a lower price, but £80m is simply too much to pay for someone who could be an injury risk and even end up losing his speed because of his problems.
