Arsenal’s search for a new striker remains ongoing.

The Gunners’ biggest priority in this summer’s transfer window is a new number nine. They need a prolific goalscorer to get them over the line, and talks have been ongoing with a few big names.

Benjamin Sesko is one of them, and Arsenal are trying to sign him from RB Leipzig. But, he isn’t the only one Andrea Berta has on his shortlist.

There is another striker Arsenal are interested in, and if a journalist is to be believed, the Arsenal owners are now involved in the deal.

Viktor Gyokeres’ agent held a meeting with Arsenal’s owners

Viktor Gyokeres has been one of the best strikers in the world over the last two seasons.

The Sporting CP star has helped his club win back-to-back Portuguese league titles, and the expectation has been that he will move on to a bigger club.

Berta is a big fan of Gyokeres. He had him on his radar while he was calling the shots at Atletico Madrid, and he is said to be interested in bringing him to the Emirates as well.

Sesko has seemed to be Arsenal’s main target in recent days, but Nuno Farinha of CNN Portugal has revealed that Gyokeres’ agent has held a meeting with Arsenal’s owners, who are Stan and Josh Kroenke, in England to accelerate a move.

He said on CNN Portugal: “The talks with Arsenal are not new, but they have now become more formal since the Gyokeres situation became the situation it was.

“The meeting is currently taking place. Gyokeres’ agent is currently meeting with the owners of Arsenal to try to speed up this process. I don’t know exactly what the amounts are or what amounts are on the table.

“No formal proposal has arrived at Sporting. This time it seems that there will be, because things with Arsenal are already very advanced, and it seems to me that there is a great desire to speed up this process. That is why a meeting is taking place at this moment.

“I believe it is in London, which is why I mentioned the issue of British punctuality. Basically, what is important from now on is to understand how this meeting went and how Arsenal will prepare for what we already know is Sporting’s position. €60m plus €10m is out of the question.”

What Viktor Gyokeres has told his agent about Arsenal

Gyokeres has plenty of interest this summer.

The Swede has been linked with Arsenal, who are in desperate need of a new striker, but the Gunners aren’t the only club interested in him.

Manchester United want to sign Gyokeres as well, and Ruben Amorim has been hoping that his relationship with the player could get it done.

But, if Farinha is to be believed, Gyokeres has told his agent that he only wants to join Arsenal.

He said on the same show: “Arsenal is the club that Gyokeres has wanted from the very beginning. Gyokeres wants to play for Arsenal, that’s his desire. He was very open about it to his agent.”

Reports have claimed that Gyokeres’ price tag has risen to £67 million, which is about the same as what Sesko will cost this summer.

It remains to be seen who Arsenal will go for.
