Arsenal were one of a number of top clubs scouting Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Oscar Gloukh during the recent international break.

The 19-year-old has been targeted by multiple sides, and is seen as a wonderkid with sky-high potential. The attacking midfielder recently impressed for Israel in this recent break, scoring against Romania in a Euro qualifier.

The Sun have now reported that Gloukh was scouted by Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United in this break, and it seems that they will have been impressed by what they saw.

He has previously scored against England at youth level, and made the move to Salzburg from Maccabi Tel Aviv in January. Less than a year later, he could be set for an even bigger move.

A surprise deal?

Whist Gloukh is a huge prospect, it would be a surprise if Arsenal were to sign another attacking midfielder right now.

It is perhaps the position in the squad with the most depth, as Kai Havertz, Martin Odegaard, Leandro Trossard, Fabio Vieira and Emile Smith Rowe are all strong options in the role.

It remains unclear what kind of fee would be needed to land Gloukh, but given the heavy interest in him, it would be a shock if Arsenal were to pursue a January move for the teenager.

Gloukh was described as “special” by former Israel star Gil Vermouth, and he could develop into a top-class attacking midfielder, but Arsenal are well-stocked for both the present and future in the position, with youngsters Charlie Patino and Ethan Nwaneri also earmarked for the long-term.

Gloukh has scored three and assisted five times for Salzburg since his move last January, and could be set for an explosion in front of goal. Whilst he may be a player in the mould of Martin Odegaard, there is little need for Mikel Arteta to sign anyone in his position right now.
