Arsenal may look to further to strengthen their squad in the January transfer window, and have now been linked with a previous transfer target.
Although Arsenal are fairly well stocked in attacking areas, it seems that Mikel Arteta may wish to add another quality versatile winger, who can compete with Bukayo Saka.
Arsenal were linked with Wolves winger Pedro Neto prior to a long-term injury a few years ago, but it has now been reported that they could return for the 23-year-old.
Arsenal’s interest in Neto
Arteta was keen on the Portuguese winger in 2021, and now he has bounced back from his injury well, this interest could be reignited.
The Mirror have claimed that recent injuries to Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard have meant that Arteta wants more depth in wide areas, and as a natural right-winger, Neto can provide cover for Bukayo Saka, who has limped off the pitch in both of his last two appearances.
Wolves manager Gary O’Neil recently described Neto as “absolutely incredible,” and he played a huge part in his side’s victory over Manchester City yesterday, having forced Ruben Dias into an own goal following an outstanding run.
Neto has scored once and assisted four times in seven league games for Wolves this season, and could be a long-term injection of quality into the squad.
Do Arsenal need another winger?

Arsenal lined up with striker Gabriel Jesus on the wing in yesterday’s victory over Bournemouth, but had winger Reiss Nelson on the bench despite an excellent performance in the League Cup in midweek.
Nelson has impressed in his appearances this season, but is still finding himself struggling for game time despite the injuries within the squad.
This indicates that Neto may initially struggle for regular minutes should he join, particularly given the form and fitness record of Saka on the right.
However, this could be a way to inject further quality into the squad. Midfielder Fabio Vieira has occasionally featured on the right as a substitute for Saka, and perhaps Neto is now being eyed up as a difference maker off the bench, and someone who can step in to occasionally start ahead of Saka.
