Arsenal have reportedly been tipped to beat the likes of Juventus to a £60m player who Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar are big fans of.
The north London duo have been influential in the last four years in rebuilding Arsenal back to their former best, with Arteta and Edu’s synergy when it comes to making deals to improve the squad a key factor to the Gunners’ success.
Indeed, this summer is expected to be an important one for the pair, with Arsenal in need of new signings if they’re to overtake Manchester City in the Premier League next season having come so close this year.
And Arsenal could now be in the clear to land a long-term target.

Arsenal in pole position to land Juventus-linked Douglas Luiz
According to Jacob Tanswell, Arsenal are leading the charge to sign Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz, with Juventus unlikely to match the north London side when it comes to finances for the Brazilian international.
With Arteta and Edu ‘firm admirers’ of the former City maestro, the £60m midfielder is a player who has been linked with a move to Arsenal for quite some time, with this summer expected to be filled with more rumours linking the two parties.

Given that Arsenal are in the market for a midfielder, Luiz would tick a lot of boxes Arsenal are looking for in the position, namely Premier League experience and the right age group to develop with the rest of the squad.
And with Juventus seemingly out of the picture, Arsenal could be in the clear to move for Luiz, who will now need convincing if the Brazilian is to swap Villa Park for the Emirates Stadium.

Luiz could emerge as Arsenal’s main midfield target this summer
In every position Arsenal are interested in making a new signing this summer, midfielder is the role that seems the most complicated for the Gunners given the amount of names linked in recent weeks.
Yet after this update surrounding Luiz, there’s a real chance that the Villa star could emerge as the main target for Arsenal in midfield given how ideal the Brazilian international is to slot in.
Whilst £60m might be a steep fee, the finances could be worth it for Arsenal if they can hash out a deal for Villa, who will want to fight tooth and nail to keep hold of one of their key players.
