Arsenal will reportedly step up their efforts to sign Palmeiras wonderkid Danilo, with the Brazilian wonderkid set to leave for Europe in the January transfer window.

According to the Sun, the Gunners are ready to intensify transfer talks with the 21-year-old, who has been on Arsenal’s radar for some time as Mikel Arteta looks to add another defensive midfielder to his ranks in the winter market.

Danilo was heavily linked with Arsenal in the summer. However, the north London side failed to sign the Brazilian as well as a central midfield in general. Though Arteta and sporting director Edu Gaspar look ready to remedy this in the January window.

Arsenal will be top of the Premier League standings heading into Boxing Day for the first time in 15 years. And any hope of a title bid will be determined by the business the north London side conduct in January, with depth in midfield and attack a must for Arteta’s side.

And signing Danilo will be a massive boost for Arsenal, with the Brazilian a perfect squad option to replace Thomas Partey in both cup competitions this campaign as well as in the future as a long-term replacement.

Indeed, Arsenal need to get their January signings spot on, and this newest update over Danilo will be an encouraging one for fans hopeful that an exciting young defensive midfielder will be added to the squad for the second half of the season.

Arsenal’s signings in the last 12 months have been inspired, with the transfer strategy under Arteta and Edu transforming the club’s fortunes for the better. And signing Danilo would only add to the impressive moves the duo have made in the past year.

At 21, the Brazilian would become the latest clog in the long-term vision Arteta has for Arsenal. And as a true replacement for Partey, many Arsenal fans will breathe a sigh of relief should the midfielder come down with another injury in the coming months.
