Arsenal are expected to be busy once again in the summer transfer window and are said to be prepping a move for one of Real Madrid’s rising stars.

The Gunners have long admired the market in La Liga and signed Martin Zubimendi this past summer, while Martin Odegaard came as well.

Mikel Arteta will be expected to strengthen once again in the summer and if he wins the title, there is no doubting the board will back him.

Indeed, according to Spanish press outlet AS, Real Madrid star Victor Valdepenas is firmly on Arsenal’s radar.

Arsenal planning big push to sign Victor Valdepenas

Victor Valdepenas is very much one of the rising stars of La Liga and Madrid.

Arsenal’s interest in him is already well known but what is interesting in the report from AS is their claim that the interest is now very serious.

In fact, it’s claimed that Arsenal are indeed planning a big push for the Spanish midfielder, who has a release clause set around the £43m mark.

Should Arsenal trigger that clause, then Madrid will be powerless to resist him entering discussions with Arsenal over a deal.

Do Arsenal really need Victor Valdepenas?

There are a couple of ways to look at this from an Arsenal perspective. On one hand, having eyes on the best young talent in Europe is always beneficial.

However, on the flipside of that, there is the question of if Valdepenas would offer anything to Arsenal in terms of improvement at this stage of his career.

Agree or disagree, Noni Madueke is showing that he could keep Bukayo Saka out of Arsenal’s starting XI.

At the moment, he isn’t getting into the current back four and that will be something both the player and the club will want to ensure is ironed out.

Sure, a young player should expect to have to bide their time in a way. But would Valdepenas really be advancing his career by moving from Madrid to Arsenal to effectively be in the same position? We’re not so sure.
