Arsenal scouts are reportedly set to scout Borussia Dortmund attacker Donyell Malen almost seven years after Arsene Wenger sold the forward.
The Dutch international was once at the north London side as an academy prospect, with Malen at the time considered one of Arsenal’s most exciting youngsters before PSV Eindhoven signed the attacker.
Since then, Malen has had quite the career that has taken him to the top of European football via the Dutch national team and UEFA Champions League, with the attacker now at Bundesliga giants Dortmund.
Arsenal set to scout former Hale End superstar Donyell Malen

And according to GiveMeSport, Arsenal are now set to scout Malen as the north London side ramp up their efforts to sign a top centre-forward this summer.
A player who Thierry Henry is a huge fan of, Malen would not have been on many Arsenal fans radar when it comes to a new forward, with the Dutchman’s record in Germany not exactly convincing.
Lauded as ‘dangerous’ by former teammate Mario Gotze, the £43m-rated forward could be tempted by a return to north London if Arsenal were to intensify their interest.
Yet given what Arsenal need, Malen might be a poor choice for a long-term striker option, with the 25-year-old only bagging 12 goals in all competitions this season.
Arsenal can do much better than former academy sensation

Malen’s inconsistent goalscoring should make the former PSV star a less-than-ideal option for Arsenal this summer, who can easily do better than their former academy star.
Given the names the Gunners have been linked with heading into the window, Mikel Arteta opting to sign Malen would be quite the disappointment for many Arsenal fans.
Although the striker could flourish back in north London, there’s simply no telling what Malen could do if Arsenal were to re-sign the forward, with better options already out there in the market.
