The transfer window is coming to a close and Arsenal, like many other clubs, are rushing to get deals done – both incomings and potential departures.

Arsenal have brought in Mathew Ryan and Martin Odegaard on loan until the end of the season. The Gunners have also sent William Saliba and Sead Kolasinac out on loan, while Mesut Ozil and Sokratis Papastathopoulos were pushed out of the door permanently.

With just a few hours left in the window, Arsenal are looking to bring at least one new player in, but Arteta also wants to send a few of our youngsters out on loan.

We take a look at two deals that are looking likely to happen by the end of the day.

Arteta-Ainsley Maitland-Niles disagreement

It is looking very likely that the versatile Englishman will leave on loan today. Leicester City and Southampton are leading the race to sign him, but Arteta wants him to go to a club where he will only feature as a full-back.

Maitland-Niles, however, disagrees with his boss and wants regular game time in his preferred central midfield position.

Arsenal prefer he goes to Southampton over Leicester as the Foxes are viewed as rivals for a top-four spot. The Saints would very much like that and are also open to a clause in the deal which obligates them to buy Maitland-Niles in the summer – something Brendan Rodgers’ side aren’t prepared to do. A new left-back?

It is no secret that Arsenal need a new left full-back. Kieran Tierney has no natural backup after Kolasinac left the club on loan. Maitland-Niles can play there, but it looks like he is on his way out too.

Arteta is reportedly looking for a new left-back and Crystal Palace star Patrick van Aanholt could be the chosen one. (The Athletic)

The Dutchman has just six months left on his contract and he has been reluctant to sign a new deal. Arsenal could capitalise on the situation and sign him on loan until the end of the season – just like we did with Cedric Soares this time last year.
