Arsenal’s transfer stance on £20m ace now emerges with Euro giants interested

Arsenal have made their stance on the future of Jakub Kiwior clear.

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Arsenal are not willing to entertain any approaches for Jakub Kiwior in the upcoming January transfer window, amid interest from Serie A giants AC Milan and Roma. The defender will not be sold or allowed to leave on loan.

Mikel Arteta would certainly be unwise to allow Kiwior to leave Arsenal. The 23-year-old centre-back only arrived at the Emirates Stadium in January, having been signed from Spezia for £20 million.

Opportunities have been limited for Kiwior so far at Arsenal, but he has generally impressed when given the chance to play. The Polish defender is excellent on the ball, and boasts an impressive range of passing. He also has the versatility to fill in at left-back when required.

The Gunners are fairly short on defensive options at this time, following the long-term injury suffered by summer signing Jurrien Timber. Further injuries, suspensions, and rotation opportunities over the course of the campaign will ensure that Kiwior gets plenty of game time.

Jakub Kiwior belongs at Arsenal…for now

The player has huge potential and an important role in this Arsenal squad. It would make no sense to sell him now, unless an astronomical offer for his services were to arrive. As such, AC Milan and Roma, and any other European or Premier League clubs harbouring an interest in Kiwior, would be wise to abandon their pursuit now.

It will be fascinating to see if Arsenal alter their position on the player at the end of the season. If Kiwior remains firmly behind the likes of Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba in the pecking order, he may well opt to push for an exit. Until then, though, the 17-cap Poland international needs to focus on taking his chances as and when they come.
