Arsenal are in talks with Jamie Gittens about a potential switch from Borussia Dortmund this summer, Arsenal Insider understands.
Gittens is enjoying a productive season for the German giants, scoring 12 goals and registering three assists across all competitions thus far.
This form has sparked interest from a host of top clubs throughout Europe, including the Gunners and Chelsea.
It’s well documented that Arsenal want a winger in the summer and Nico Williams is the club’s primary target, although Andrea Berta is keen to keep his options open, with Gittens identified as an alternative.

Arsenal are in talks with Jamie Gittens
Arsenal Insider revealed in April that Williams is keen on joining Barcelona this summer, with this desire potentially inhibiting Arsenal’s ability to land the Spaniard.
Thus, Berta is monitoring a number of other wingers on the market, in the scenario that the Athletic Club man is unattainable.
Ademola Lookman has been mooted as an option, as have the likes of Rafael Leao and Leroy Sane.
However, reports have emerged in recent days suggesting Arsenal are in ‘advanced negotiations’ for Gittens, who may be available for a modest fee.
TBR Football’s transfer correspondent Graeme Bailey told Arsenal Insider that while the Gunners have held talks with the 20-year-old’s entourage about a potential transfer, the deal is far from ‘advanced’ and he’s merely one of several names on Berta’s shortlist.
Arsenal face competition from a host of Premier League clubs who also admire Gittens, including Chelsea.
While there is interest from Spain and Italy, the player’s preference is a return to his home nation.

Jamie Gittens’ Statistics 2024/25
Spending time in Chelsea and Manchester City’s academies, Gittens left English football for Dortmund in 2020.
Developing impressively over recent years in Germany, he’s been a regular in die Schwarzgelben’s side since the 2022/23 season, enjoying his real breakthrough campaign this term.
Despite boasting exceptional dribbling skills and managing double figures for goals, some of the underlying data leaves a lot to be desired.
| Gittens’ Bundesliga Statistics 2024/25 | |
| Appearances | 30 |
| Goals | 8 |
| Assists | 3 |
| Shots per 90 | 2.65 |
| Expected Goals per 90 | 0.18 |
| Key Passes per 90 | 1.07 |
| Expected Assists per 90 | 0.21 |
| Successful Take-Ons per 90 | 3.93 |
Accumulating 0.18 expected goals and 0.21 expected assists per 90 minutes, he’s not yet at a level where it’s reasonable to anticipate a productive campaign from him in the Premier League next season.
However, completing almost four dribbles per game suggests there’s certainly talent there, and at just 20, it’s certainly a profile worth investing in.
That said, it’d be something of a punt, and you’d want to pay a fee that reflects that, which Dortmund don’t seem to be willing to accept.
