Arsenal are plotting a move to sign Marc Guehi in the summer of 2024.

According to The Sun, Arsenal are keen to sign Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, but will not make their move until after the end of the current season. Mikel Arteta is said to be “happy to wait” for the 23-year-old.

Arsenal will not be the only club in the mix for Guehi come the summer. Manchester City, Manchester United, and Chelsea all retain an interest in the centre-back. Whilst the Eagles are eager to keep him at Selhurst Park, it will be struggle for them to cling on to the player beyond the coming summer transfer window.

Guehi has been a revelation for the south London club since his £18 million arrival in the summer of 2021. The seven-cap England international is comfortable on the ball and contests his duels powerfully. He has the potential to develop into a truly elite-level defender in the coming years.

How Marc Guehi might slot in at Arsenal

If Arsenal do sign Guehi ahead of next season, it will be fascinating to see how his arrival impacts Arteta’s defensive set up. Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba have established a fine partnership at the Emirates Stadium, and are ably backed up by Jakub Kiwior, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Ben White.

Guehi would not be satisfied with a back up role at Arsenal. Unless there is a major departure from Arsenal to come, there will be serious competition for the starting berths in the heart of the rearguard.

There has been speculation about Gabriel leaving the club before, and Guehi may well be being lined up as a direct replacement for the Brazilian.

Whatever the plan may be for Guehi, he certainly won’t come cheaply to Arsenal. However, he would be an exciting addition to Arteta’s squad should he arrive at the Emirates Stadium.
