Mikel Arteta’s pursuit for two rumoured Arsenal targets could now reportedly ‘depend’ on whether Jakub Kiwior’s form can continue.

The Polish international has emerged as one of the surprise breakout stars for the north London side in 2024, with Kiwor making the left-back position his own in recent weeks.

Signed from Spezia last January for £20m, Kiwior’s form has kept both Oleksandr Zinchenko and Takehiro Tomiyasu out of the Arsenal starting XI, with Jurrien Timber’s return also potentially in doubt.

And according to journalist Charles Watts, Arsenal’s interest in defenders Jorrel Hato and Ousmane Diomande could now be in doubt if Kiwior continues his ‘impressive’ run of form in the coming weeks.

The two centre-backs have been strongly linked with moves to Arsenal in recent months, with the north London side seemingly keen to add an exciting youngster to their defensive ranks in the summer.

However, with other signings needed and Arsenal’s current options as good as they are, Kiwior’s form might now cause Arteta to rethink his motive to sign either Hato or Diomande.

Moreover, with the return of Timber imminent and Arsenal stacked at the back, Kiwior’s unlikely breakthrough could save the Gunners millions if the Pole can maintain his current form.

Few fans would have predicted Kiwior to thrive in a makeshift left-back role for Arsenal this season, especially with Timber and Tomiyasu looking like Arteta’s ideal players for the position.

Yet the former Serie A star has done just that for the Gunners in recent weeks, and the revelation could be huge for Arsenal heading into the summer transfer window.

Saving money on a defender will allow the north London side to focus on signing a new forward and midfielder, a prospect that will push Arsenal further in their goal to win silverware under Arteta.
