Arsenal have been linked with a move for Bayer Leverkusen star Moussa Diaby.

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are amongst a group of Premier League clubs vying for Moussa Diaby’s signature. Newcastle, Aston Villa, and Manchester United are also in the hunt. Bayer Leverkusen have put a price tag of £50 million on the winger.

Arsenal have also been busy this summer. Kai Havertz has joined from Chelsea, and deals for West Ham’s midfield talisman Declan Rice and versatile Dutch defender Jurrien Timber are very close. Reiss Nelson has also signed a new contract with the Gunners, but that shouldn’t dissuade Mikel Arteta from bolstering his squad in the wide areas further with the addition of Diaby.

With the north London club already spending heavily, it may be a challenge for them to meet the Bundesliga club’s demands. However, Arteta should do all he can to push the club towards making a deal.

Arsenal should push for Moussa Diaby

The 24-year-old is supremely talented, and has been rewarded for his performance levels in the Bundesliga with 10 caps for France. He is versatile enough to play across the front line, but predominantly features on the right wing and likes to cut inside onto his favoured left foot.

Arsenal were incredibly reliant on Bukayo Saka in this part of the pitch last season. Whilst the Englishman’s form was exceptional, Arteta needs to be able to rest and rotate him occasionally. In order to do this though he needs a player who can bring real quality to that position in Saka’s stead. With the extra burden of Champions League football to come this season, and the desire to produce another title push, Diaby would bring the extra talent needed to make a real difference.
