German champions Bayern Munich are said to be ‘afraid’ of Arsenal potentially signing Martin Zubimendi in the summer.
The Gunners have had a quiet January transfer window and nothing is expected to happen in the next few days. In the summer, however, we will surely be more active, and Zubimendi is a player who has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates.
Bayern Munich are afraid Arsenal will sign Martin Zubimendi
Martin Zubimendi has been on Arsenal’s radar for over a year now.
The Real Sociedad star is one of the best midfielders in La Liga. He has been magnificent in Spain, and it’s no surprise that Mikel Arteta wants to bring him to Arsenal.
However, the Gunners aren’t the only club keen to sign him – Bayern Munich want Zubimendi too.
That’s according to Christian Falk, who wrote in his Fact Files today that the Spanish midfielder is Thomas Tuchel’s number one target for the summer transfer window.
However, the journalist has claimed that Arsenal’s interest has terrified Bayern, who are now worried Arteta will lure Zubimendi to the Emirates.
Falk wrote: “Martin Zubimendi is the No.1 target for Bayern in front of Joao Palhinha. He has a release clause of €60m, which is why he’s so interesting.
“Bayern Munich are pushing for him and it’s also interesting that Xabi Alonso is with the same agency. Bayern executives are watching him closely as a potential coach for the Bavarian outfit.
“Bayern also heard that Mikel Arteta is already talking to the player. They’re both Spanish as well, which is a big advantage for Arsenal!
“Bayern were very sure that they would lead the race for Zubimendi but now that Arsenal are there, they’re afraid of the Gunners and afraid that Mikel Arteta could take this player away, which had been a planned move for the summer.”
Arsenal can beat Bayern again
Arsenal and Bayern Munich seem to targeting the same players over the last six months.
The Bundesliga winners were really keen to sign Kai Havertz, Declan Rice and David Raya in last summer’s transfer window, but unfortunately for them, all three players chose Arsenal.
Martin Zubimendi is a phenomenal player. It’s no surprise that he’s being chased by huge clubs, but we’re pretty convinced Arsenal can beat Bayern again considering the Spaniard plays for Mikel Arteta‘s old side and is from the same region as our boss.
Bayern are used to missing out on their targets and seeing them end up at Arsenal. That’s probably why they’re afraid we’ll sign Zubimendi too in the summer.
