Arsenal have splashed the cash in recent transfer windows but under Andrea Berta, they also appear to be getting better at selling players as well.

Alongside bringing in fresh talent, one of Berta’s big duties is to ensure the Gunners get value in the seller’s market as well.

That started in the summer, with the likes of Nuno Tavares, Marquinhos and others being moved on, albeit for relatively small fees.

Now, Arsenal could be given the chance to bring some unexpected funds into the club, with Ajax now keen on signing one of Mikel Arteta’s first signings.

Ajax want to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko in January

Oleksandr Zinchenko was one of the first big money buys of the Mikel Arteta era and in the main, his signing was a success.

But now out on loan at Nottingham Forest and rarely playing, Zinchenko could leave The Emirates for free in the summer.

However, in a report from Dutch outlet De Telegraaf, it’s now claimed that Ajax want to sign Zinchenko this month and that means Arsenal could end up with a small fee for their man.

Nottingham Forest are believed to be exploring options to send Zinchenko back to the Gunners which, in turn, would free him up to move on abroad.

Ajax are looking to add a new left-back to their squad while they’re also keen on adding vital experience.

Zinchenko ticks both boxes and if Arsenal can land a fee, it might be a deal that works for all.

Oleksandr Zinchenko can be considered a success at Arsenal

While he might have been ousted from the first-team more recently, you have to say that on the whole, Zinchenko has been a success at The Emirates.

He was very much highlighted as a key player and personality when he first signed and he was integral in Mikel Arteta bringing about a cultural change at the club.

Obviously, he is also a supremely talented footballer who Kevin de Bruyne branded ‘unbelievable’ during their time together at Man City.

Since signing in 2022, Zinchenko has made 91 appearances for the Gunners, scoring just the three goals but proving a valuable and versatile player at left-back and across the midfield.

When all is said and done, most Arsenal fans will look back on Zinchenko as a worthwhile signing who more than contributed.
