Spanish outlet Coliseo Verdiblanco revealed earlier this week that Real Betis are eyeing a move for Arsenal star Hector Bellerin.
The Spaniard is no longer Mikel Arteta’s first-choice at right-back. All things suggest that he will leave the Emirates this summer, and a move back to Spain is a very real possibility.
My Revenge On Ben Foster
Betis are set to lose Emerson Royal and they are on the market for a new right-back. Their director, Federico Martínez Feria, has admitted that the Arsenal man is an excellent player, but has rubbished reports claiming that they are in talks to sign him.
Feria: Real Betis are not in talks to sign Hector Bellerin
He said, as per ABC Sevilla: “Well, as you know, it is notorious that a lot of news is given in the summer preview. In general, if you analyze at the end, the success rate is small.
“Bellerin is an excellent player. I understand that Arsenal have their interests too, probably to place him. But, we are not making, I say emphatically, an effort to sign the player.
“However, he is, why not, among the positions to be covered and he is a player of a perfect size for us. He could be a candidate, but we are not talking to Arsenal at this time about Bellerin.”
The Insider’s View:
With the signings of Nabil Fekir and Borja Iglesias in recent years, Betis have shown that they aren’t afraid to spend the big bucks.
However, their current record signing stands at £24 million – Iglesias from Espanyol two years ago. (Diario AS) Arsenal will almost certainly demand a similar, if not higher fee, for Bellerin this summer, which could make things difficult.
It is clear that this summer is the right time for Arsenal and Bellerin to part ways. The Spaniard arguably deserves a move to a much bigger club than Betis, but a return to his home country could well tempt him to accept a deal.
