Serie A clubs are reportedly interested in signing Cedric Soares, who is due to leave Arsenal as a free-agent at the end of this season.

The Portuguese defender has hardly featured for the north London side this term with Ben White once again establishing himself as Arsenal’s starting right-back with Takehiro Tomiyasu also filling in.

With Mikel Arteta’s defensive options as good as they have ever been during his time at Arsenal, Cedric’s time with the club is now coming to an end, with the fullback’s deal expiring at the end of this season.

And according to GIFN, Serie A teams are lining up moves to sign Cedric, who has already spent time in Italy after playing for Inter Milan on loan in 2019.

Once lauded as ‘fantastic’ by Invincible Gilberto Silva, the decision to leave Arsenal is the correct one for Cedric, who this season has only made five appearances in all competitions for the Gunners.

With the north London side also expected to add to their defence again this summer, offloading Cedric to free up room on the payroll is something that would benefit Arsenal massively.

Moreover, the defender himself could benefit from a new change of scenery, with Cedric ready to move on from the Premier League and to write the next chapter in his career away from Arsenal.

Cedric clearly has a lot left in the tank despite being 32-years-old and spending the majority of the season with Arsenal on the substitutes bench.

Which is why a move to Serie A could be so ideal for Cedric, who could find a new home for himself in Italy with a club that could be competing in European competition.

Indeed, the defender has a lot to give in the world of football, and a permanent return to Italy might be what’s needed for Cedric to have one last triumph in his career once leaving Arsenal for good.
