Arsenal look set to have a busy summer transfer window once this season ends, and there could be several key incomings.

Given that several players may leave, including Aaron Ramsdale and Eddie Nketiah, Arsenal may find they have significant financial firepower, and may look to strengthen a few different positions.

A move for a striker has long been mooted, with Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres among the names linked, and it seems that Mikel Arteta wants to reinforce his attack with multiple incomings.

Arsenal could also move for players in midfield and defensive areas, in what promises to be a window of high spending, and their priorities have now been revealed.

David Ornstein reveals Arsenal transfer priorities

In a Q&A session with The Athletic, journalist David Ornstein claimed that a striker will be Arsenal’s priority, and other positions will depend on outgoings.

“On transfer priorities, my understanding is that will be a striker and I touched on some of the potential names previously,” he claimed.

“Then there is desire to add back-up for Saka/Martinelli, a No.8 or No.6 depending on other movements in that area, possibly a left-back and a back-up goalkeeper if Ramsdale leaves.”

What should Arsenal’s priority be in the transfer window?

Given Arsenal’s strong goalscoring form, which has seen them break their Premier League record for goals by this stage of the season, a speedy winger should arguably be prioritised over a striker.

Arsenal have suffered without Gabriel Martinelli at times, with Leandro Trossard unable to replace his explosive pace on the wing, and there is little cover for Bukayo Saka.

A player who can cover on both wings, whilst being able to inject pace off the bench, would be particularly useful for Arsenal, and Nico Williams of Athletic Bilbao has been linked.

If Arsenal can secure a winger and a striker, then a midfielder will also be needed if Thomas Partey leaves, and Martin Zubimendi appears to be a top target.

Arsenal are in the quarter-finals of the Champions League and are top of the Premier League, but there is still room to fully complete the squad to be able to compete on all fronts consistently.

A defender may also be targeted, but if Jurrien Timber completes a successful return from injury, then there may not be much need to sign another backup, but a versatile option could be of appeal.
