Arsenal have the best squad in the Premier League right now.
The Gunners signed eight new players in the summer transfer window, which is why Mikel Arteta has at least two top-class options in every position.
However, there is always room for improvement in the squad, and Andrea Berta is already working on new signings in 2026.
Arsenal have been linked with plenty of players recently, but one player who they are not in the mix to sign is Elliot Anderson.
If you were Andrea Berta and could sign any player in the world right now, who would it be and why?
David Ornstein says every top club apart from Arsenal want to sign Elliot Anderson
Anderson has been one of the most impressive players in the Premier League this season.
The ‘phenomenal‘ Nottingham Forest star has broken into the England team as well, and he is seen as the ideal partner for Declan Rice at the World Cup this year.
Anderson is expected to leave Forest in the summer, and the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool have all been linked with a move to sign him.
David Ornstein has confirmed interest from those clubs and claimed that every top side are in the mix to get him before the start of next season.
However, the journalist has revealed that Arsenal are the exception because their midfield is full already.

He said on The Athletic FC podcast: “All the top clubs like him, and most of them will be in the mix potentially, maybe with the exception of Arsenal. They’re the ones who have a full midfield.
“Whether it be Manchester United, Bayern Munich, teams on the continent, I heard Chelsea at one point.
“And no January move – that goes without saying. It will be too high a price. Even those that might be willing to commit the funds, I don’t know how easy it would be from a PSR financial fair play perspective.
“You also need squad space if you’re bringing in somebody like that. He’s already earning in excess of £100,000 a week, so you’re going to have to take him higher.
“Nottingham Forest have zero appetite to trade him right now. The summer is a different story. Every player has their price. We’re hearing figures of £80-100 million, maybe even more.”
After a move for Elliot Anderson is dismissed, which midfielder would you like Andrea Berta to bring to Arsenal in 2026?
Should Arsenal join the race to sign Elliot Anderson?
Arsenal could do with another midfielder in 2026.
The Gunners have Rice and Martin Zubimendi as their first-choice starters, while Christian Norgaard is the backup in the number six role.
As good as the former Brentford captain is, he is not on the same level as the other two. If Rice or Zubimendi gets injured for an extended period, Arsenal will struggle.
Anderson would be a great option, but we can’t see the Gunners spending £100 million or more on a backup midfielder. It wouldn’t make any sense.
Instead, Andrea Berta should look for a top-quality youngster who is not just good enough to fill in when required but also has the potential to become as good as Rice or Zubimendi in a few years.
