Turkish giants Fenerbahce are reportedly keen on a move for Arsenal midfielder Jorginho, who wants to leave the club.

That’s according to Turkish outlet TRTSPOR, who have claimed that Fenerbahce have enquired over a potential move for the 31-year-old, and Jorginho has told Arsenal that he wants to make the move.

The Italy star joined in January from London rivals Chelsea for around £12m, and has been impressive both on and off the pitch for the Gunners, with his best performance coming in a player of the match display in the 2-0 victory away at Newcastle towards the end of the season.

Jorginho was linked with a move away earlier in the summer window, but his agent denied the rumours, claiming that he was happy at the Emirates, so this report will come as a huge surprise.

Why Pele Is Overrated.

Arsenal should not sell Jorginho

Jorginho’s previous desire to stay means this report may be tough to believe, and it seems highly unlikely that Arsenal would let such a useful player depart.

He is one of the most experienced players in the squad, and the departure of Granit Xhaka earlier in the summer means that Jorginho could play a key leadership role.

The arrival of Declan Rice means that Jorginho has fallen further down the pecking order of defensive midfielders, but he has been impressive in pre-season and will likely still feature heavily throughout the season, with his calmness and composure on the ball proving important to Arsenal in tough away games.

It would likely take a huge offer for Mikel Arteta to consider selling a player he considers highly valuable to the squad, and it seems unlikely that Jorginho will be desperate to quit and depart London, where he has lived since joining Chelsea in 2018.
