As the new year rolls around, so too does the January transfer window as teams look to strengthen their squad for the second half of the campaign.
For Arsenal, it could be a chance to regroup and restock the team, following struggles with both depth and quality in the side.
While January has always been an awkward time to land fresh faces, the Gunners can still make use of the window.
Previous years have seen Mikel Arteta land some important members of his team in the winter on some bargain fees too.
So with that said, here’s a look at everything you need to know ahead of the 2025 January transfer window.

When does the January 2025 transfer window open?
The January 2025 transfer window opens on January 1, 2025, with teams able to complete signings and register their new players immediately.
It will also allow players in the final six months of their contract to discuss and sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside of their current nation.
That means Arsenal could agree a deal with anyone outside of England entering the final six months of their deal, while any player at the Emirates Stadium could do the same with clubs outside of England.
When does the January 2025 transfer window close?
While many would naturally assume that the January transfer window would close on the final day of the month, that isn’t the case.
Instead, the upcoming transfer window closes on Monday, February 3, 2025, at 11pm (GMT), giving teams an extra few days to complete their business.
Why does the January 2025 transfer window close late?
It may seem bizarre for the transfer window to close so late, but the Premier League has already explained their reasoning for the timing.
A statement claims the decision regarding market timing is: “To ensure harmonisation with the major leagues in Europe, the closing dates were set following discussions with the EFL, DFL, Serie A, La Liga, and LFP, who will all close their Summer and Winter windows on 30 August and 3 February, respectively.”

What do Arsenal have planned for the January transfer window?
Heading into the January transfer window, fans have big expectations for Arsenal in the market, given the side’s need for strength in depth.
While players in the forward ranks are on the radar, the chances of landing a marquee signing remain slim at such an awkward time of the season.
The Gunners are scanning for potential opportunities though, with hopes of landing extra quality in the weeks ahead.
January also provides a chance to land loan deals for some of the Hale End academy stars, with first-team minutes and experience needed to hit the next level.
