Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal wish in 2014 could finally come true this summer.

The legendary Frenchman was Arsenal’s manager for over two decades. He is the reason why the Gunners are such a big club today, and he will always be a hero in our eyes.

During his time as the club’s boss, Wenger signed and sold plenty of players, but he missed out on a few excellent prospects too.

One of them is now said to be keen to move to the Emirates before the transfer window shuts at the end of August.

Kingsley Coman is ‘keen’ to sign for Arsenal

Kingsley Coman is one of the most accomplished footballers on the planet.

The Frenchman has never really been a superstar, but he has been successful in almost every single season of his professional career.

Coman has won 27 major trophies in his career, including a combined 12 league titles in France, Italy and Germany. Bundesliga’s official website describes his career as ‘exceptional’.

Now, the former Juventus man is surplus to requirements at Bayern Munich, and reports have claimed that Coman has been put on the transfer market.

Arsenal have been linked with a move to sign the winger, and CaughtOffside have now shared a positive update on the situation.

The report reveals that Coman, who is 28 now, prefers a switch to ‘either the Premier League or La Liga’, but he is ‘particularly keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium’.

It has also been revealed that a late move for Coman remains an option for the Gunners, and Bayern Munich are ready to sell him for a fee between €30 million and €40 million (£25.6m-£34.1m).

Arsene Wenger explains how close he came to signing Coman

Coman is a tremendous player when he is fit.

The Frenchman can play on either wing and has the ability to be equally effective. He’s rapid, a great dribbler and his finishing is very good too.

Coman had a number of admirers before he became a star – Wenger was one of them.

The Frenchman revealed that he actually tried to sign Coman in the summer of 2014 and the deal was all but completed.

However, in the end, Coman rejected Arsenal and decided to join Juventus instead.

Wenger said, as quoted by the Daily Mail: “Yes, we really tried to sign Kingsley Coman in the summer of 2014. The transfer was almost completed, but he preferred Juventus.”
