Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Arsenal remain in contract talks with academy star Amario Cozier-Duberry, who is a target for Newcastle United.

The 18-year-old winger is regarded as one of the Gunners’ most exciting young prospects, with Cozier-Duberry set for a big future having been tipped to eventually break into Mikel Arteta’s first-team plans.

However, the teenager’s contract with Arsenal is currently set to expire at the end of the season, with the north London side yet to reach terms with Cozier-Duberry over a new deal.

Yet according to Romano on Twitter, Arsenal remain in talks with Cozier-Duberry over a new contract, though there is now interest from the likes of Newcastle, Ajax and Borussia Dortmund.

Lauded by journalist Tom Maston as an ‘electric’ attacker, Cozier-Duberry leaving north London would be another blow for Arsenal having already seen a number of talented players leave in recent years.

However, given how good Arsenal have been in retaining their star youngsters, there’s every chance that Cozier-Duberry will commit to his boyhood club in the coming weeks, especially with talks ongoing.

Arsenal’s academy has in recent years been one of the most productive in the Premier League, with Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe becoming superstars after graduating from Hale End.

And for many fans, Cozier-Duberry could be the next player to make the leap into the senior team and become a genuine force in the English top-flight if given the chance by Arteta.

Yet Arsenal first have to do all they can to renew Cozier-Duberry’s contract, with the winger’s contract situation currently leaving the forward in a precarious decision.

Indeed, the Gunners might now be in talks with Cozier-Duberry, but discussions should, ideally, wrap up soon if Arsenal are to stand a good chance of securing the teenager’s future in a good timeframe.
