The striker almost every Arsenal fan wants to sign is Julian Alvarez this summer.

The Gunners are expected to sell Gabriel Jesus in this window, which would then leave them with just Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres up top.

Arsenal could do with another striker, and the dream target for Mikel Arteta is Alvarez of Atletico Madrid.

However, a new name has now emerged from Brazil.

Arsenal want to sign Igor Thiago from Brentford

Igor Thiago took the Premier League by storm last season.

The Brazilian joined Brentford in 2024 but barely played in his debut campaign. But in 2025/26, he was one of the best players in the country.

Thiago scored 25 goals in all competitions last term, 22 of which came in the Premier League.

That has made him a wanted man in this window, and RTI Sports in Brazil have claimed that Arsenal are keen to sign him now.

The report reveals that Arteta has been a fan of the striker since before he moved to England is looking at a move in the coming weeks.

Manchester United are also in the mix for Thiago, who is under contract at Brentford until the summer of 2031. They even have an option to extend that by another year.

It remains to be seen how much the Bees will demand for the talented striker and whether the Gunners would be willing to get him.

Should Arsenal sign Igor Thiago?

Arsenal definitely need to sign a new striker this summer.

Gyokeres and Havertz are both good, but if Arteta wants his side to go to the next level, they need someone even more prolific.

If Julian Alvarez becomes impossible to sign, Arsenal will need to look at alternatives, and Thiago is a very interesting option.

The Brazilian is slightly taller than Gyokeres, but he is otherwise a similar profile of a striker to the Sweden international.

To be more complete, Arsenal need someone different – someone like Alvarez. Eli Junior Kroupi seems like that player, and we think he would be a better signing for the team than Thiago.
