Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move to sign Aymeric Laporte, and the Manchester City defender seems to be a big fan of Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners have had great success in signing players from Pep Guardiola’s side. Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko came in last year and made us title contenders, and reports have claimed recently that Laporte is on Arteta’s radar now.

Aymeric Laporte is a big fan of Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta

Earlier this week, after Gabriel Magalhaes was linked with a shock move to Saudi Arabia, The Mirror claimed Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta would be interested in Aymeric Laporte as a possible replacement.

Why Pele Is Overrated.

The £57 million defender has been amazing for Manchester City over the years, but he is no longer the main man at the heart of Pep Guardiola‘s defence.

He is expected by everyone to be sold this summer, and Arteta is said to be interested.

The two know each other very well having worked together at Manchester City a few years ago. Laporte even claimed back in March 2020 that the Arsenal boss is a ‘great coach’ and he shares a fantastic relationship with him.

Laporte told Sky Sports: “Mikel is a great coach and, for me, he has been one of the best people I have met in Manchester. He tries to help players all the time, he had a really good relationship with everyone and with me especially.”

The Insider’s View:

Aymeric Laporte only becomes an option for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta if Gabriel Magalhaes leaves the club.

The Brazilian is apparently a target for clubs in Saudi Arabia, and he has also been linked with a shock move to Spanish giants Real Madrid to replace the injured Eder Militao.

However, in our view, Arsenal shouldn’t even consider selling Gabriel. The 25-year-old has been incredible for us over the last three years, and he has shown huge progress in that period. We believe he will be even better in the coming seasons.

After being dropped on the opening day of the new season, it will be interesting to see if Arteta will bring him back into the side when Arsenal face Crystal Palace on Monday.
