Arsenal recently received an offer for Leandro Trossard from Al-Ittihad.
Despite the transfer market now being closed in England, it remains open in some other countries, leaving Arsenal and Mikel Arteta vulnerable to late offers for key players.
Leandro Trossard was the subject of one such bid. Al-Ittihad tabled £30 million for Trossard.
It is easy to see why the Belgian winger may be tempted by such a move. The Saudi Arabian club would be able to offer him higher wages than he is currently earning at the Emirates Stadium, whilst he would also stand a great chance of establishing himself as a consistent starter for Al-Ittihad.
After all, the 29-year-old has been dissatisfied with his game time in North London in the past, and the recent arrival of Raheem Sterling could limit his opportunities further. Arteta and Trossard have butted heads over this issue before.
However, the fact remains that the former Brighton attacker is a crucial player to Arteta.

David Ornstein reveals Arsenal response to Leandro Trossard bid
Trossard’s status at the Emirates Stadium is reflected in the speed and clarity of Arsenal’s response to Al-Ittihad’s approach.
According to journalist David Ornstein, reporting on X: “Arsenal have turned down an informal proposal from Al Ittihad to sign Leandro Trossard.
“The Saudi Pro League side made a preliminary offer for a season-long loan, including a fee of €5m with an obligation to buy next summer for a price between €20-25m.”
Arsenal must hold firm on Trossard transfer stance
The Gunners were right to turn down this offer, and must make it clear that Trossard is very much not for sale. Whilst Arteta has no recourse to replace the forward, he must keep him.
Trossard is Arsenal’s best finisher, and even if he doesn’t start week in, week out, this season he will still play plenty of football and has proven that he can be relied upon to deliver in the big moments.
However, had this offer arrived even a few days ago, considering the player’s age there might have been an argument for accepting it, whilst Arsenal still had time to source a replacement.
As things stand now, though, Trossard cannot be allowed to go anywhere.
